The first Upadhan Tap to be held in the grounds of Shri Shatrunjay Adinath Tirthdham. The first muhurat falls on 7 December 2026 and the Moksha Mala on 24 January 2027.

उपधान तप क्या है

What Upadhan Tap is

उपधान तप वह आराधना है जिसमें श्रावक-श्राविका नियत अवधि तक गुरु भगवंत की निश्रा में पौषध एवं संयमित आहार के साथ रहकर नवकार महामंत्र तथा प्रतिक्रमण के सूत्रों को विधिपूर्वक ग्रहण करते हैं।

Upadhan Tap is the observance in which a lay practitioner lives for a set period under the guidance of gurus, keeping posadh and a restrained diet, and formally receives the Navkar Mahamantra and the sutras of pratikraman.

नीचे दिया विवरण उपधान तप की सामान्य परम्परा का है। इस आयोजन की दैनिक क्रिया, नियम एवं व्यवस्था सम्बन्धी सूचनाएँ ट्रस्ट द्वारा पृथक् से घोषित की जाएँगी।

What follows describes the general tradition of Upadhan Tap. The daily schedule, rules and arrangements for this particular observance will be announced separately by the trust.

सूत्रों की विधिवत प्राप्ति

Receiving the sutras

उपधान तप वह आराधना है जिसके द्वारा श्रावक-श्राविका नवकार महामंत्र तथा प्रतिक्रमण के सूत्रों को गुरु भगवंत की निश्रा में विधिपूर्वक ग्रहण करते हैं। सूत्र केवल कंठस्थ नहीं किए जाते — तप और क्रिया के साथ उनके अधिकारी बना जाता है।

Upadhan Tap is the observance through which a Jain layperson formally receives the Navkar Mahamantra and the sutras of pratikraman, under the guidance of gurus. The sutras are not merely memorised; the practitioner becomes entitled to them through tap and kriya.

पौषध एवं संयमित जीवन

Posadh and a restrained life

तप की अवधि में साधक संसार के कार्यों से निवृत्त होकर पौषध व्रत में रहते हैं। भूमि-शयन, संयमित आहार तथा सादगी — यह जीवन साधु-जीवन की एक झलक है।

For the duration of the tap the practitioner withdraws from worldly work and keeps posadh — sleeping on the ground, a restricted diet and utter simplicity. It is a glimpse of ascetic life for a householder.

दैनिक क्रिया

The daily discipline

प्रतिदिन देववंदन, प्रतिक्रमण, गुरुवंदन, स्वाध्याय और क्रियाओं का क्रम चलता है। दिन का बड़ा भाग आराधना में ही व्यतीत होता है।

Each day follows a settled order of devvandan, pratikraman, guruvandan, svadhyay and the prescribed kriyas. The greater part of the day is given to aradhana.

तप की महिमा

Why it is held dear

उपधान को श्रावक जीवन की बड़ी आराधनाओं में गिना जाता है। जिस भूमि पर यह तप होता है, वह क्षेत्र भी वर्षों तक उस आराधना से जुड़ा रहता है।

Upadhan is counted among the great observances of lay Jain life. The place where it is held stays associated with that aradhana for years afterwards.
